Deepwater Horizon oil spill study could lead to overhaul of cleanup processes worldwide
🌟 I'm delighted to share our recent study on oil spills and their impact on marine ecosystems! 🌊 Our latest paper delves into the active microbial communities affected by oil spills, going beyond taxonomy to explore functional traits using cutting-edge metaproteomics. 🧪✨
In just 24 hours of exposure, our findings showcase the profound effects of dispersants on protein regulation, also emphasising the role of sunlight in intensifying chemical toxicity. This research, focusing on the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, marks a significant step towards transformative oil spill cleanup processes.
