Oceans in Recovery: My Participation in BBC Future on the Future of Oil Spill Recovery

🌊 Honoured to have been invited to contribute to this insightful piece on **BBC FUTURE**, written by Jocelyn Timperley! Fourteen years after the Deepwater Horizon spill, we’re seeing incredible advancements in how we respond to marine oil spills – but there’s still work to be done. 🛢️

🔬 🧪In our research we have found that while dispersants like Corexit were heavily used in past cleanups, they can also induce acute oxidative stress response in oil-degrading bacteria, affecting natural recovery. It’s crucial to keep innovating and refining our methods for a safer and more effective response in the future.

It’s been a pleasure working with you, Jocelyn, on this important topic. Grateful to be part of the ongoing efforts to protect our oceans. 🌍
